Topic: Redesigning General Education
In this session, a General Education redesign pilot program's "lessons learned" will be described. Implementation of curricular, co-curricular, and policy enhancements will be discussed; specifically, WCYou experience, adaptive learning, capstone, and integrated areas of concentration designed to enhance curricular breadth, depth, and value, and maximize learning outcomes achievement, and a revised transfer credit policy.
Competency Based Education is an alternative educational model designed to measure a student’s competency at mastering knowledge and competencies. One challenge is determining how general education fits into a competency based approach. This presentation will discuss a multidisciplinary, backwards design approach used to design general education competencies.
