Topic: Engaging Faculty In Assessment
Resistance to assessment is a persistent challenge at many campuses. At CSUF, a large regional comprehensive university, we addressed this challenge by transferring the ownership of assessment to faculty. By promoting a faculty-driven approach to assessment, we have observed preliminary success toward establishing a campus-wide assessment culture.
This presentation will explore tools to support faculty ownership of student learning outcome assessment, including a discussion facilitator guide and institutional research products. Development processes will be covered, and the audience will participate in a case study in which tools are used to facilitate faculty dialogue.
